Durango Browne contracted with Renardet & Partners Consulting Engineers of Muscat in September 2014 to assist the Sultanate of Oman's Ministry of Transport & Communications in procuring the design, construction and operation of 65 kilometers of new road along the remote and rugged eastern cost of the Musandam Peninsula connecting the towns of Diba, Lima and khasab. The project will include approximately 7 tunnels totalling 9 kilometres in length.
This will be the first use of a design-build-operate contract for a road by the Ministry, and the first hard rock roadway tunnels in Oman.
Durango Browne will provide tender documents, draft contracts, and collaborate with Renardet's road and tunnel engineers to compile technical specifications for the project, including performance based specifications for tunnels and roadway operations & maintenance.
