Durango Browne contracted with Renardet SA of Oman in July of 2015 to provide procurement services related to the renovation of the 130 MW Farkhad Hydropower Station located on the Sirdarya River in Uzbekistan and owned by the State hydropower company UzbekEnergo.
The services consisted of developing procurement and contracting strategies in conjunction with UzbekEnergo and the Islamic Development Bank, development of procurement tendering instructions and design and construction contracts, development of specification requirements in conjunction with various foreign and local technical specialists and UzbekEnergo, assistance in the management of tender processes including clarifications, and participation in evaluation teams.
Technically the rehabilitation involved the remodelling of the main power station building constructed in the 1940's, reverse engineering and design of rehabilitation for two hydro-electric turbines, demolition of two hydro-electric turbines and design and installation of new turbines, renovation of select elements of the dam / inlet works / penstocks, design and construction of new switchyard, testing and commissioning of the fully renovated facility.
