The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development is undertaking the development of a 500,000 tonne per annum waste to energy facility as part of an upgraded waste management system for the capital city of Baku.
Following an inconclusive initial tender in late 2007, Durango Browne was asked to assist with the procurement of a designer-builder-operator. The procurement was conducted and the development contract was signed all within one year. Development commenced in 2009.
